It is April 17, can I still file for an extension?

    No, it is too late to file an extension.  They were due to be filed by the end of April 15, 2019.  Unless you are filing a state return for Massachusetts or Maine, then a state extension can still be filed.  See more information below:

    I updated the answer above in case you are wanting to file an extension for Maine or Massachusetts, as state extensions would still be allowed for those two states.  The federal deadline has passed, though.
