Question

It looks like a bug on TurboTax. I have an AMT long-term loss carryover from 2023. It won't let me claim the AMT loss in 2024 or carry it over to 2025.

Can you clarify if you are getting a rejection or is the box unavailable?

    Hi Brittany,

After answering the interview questions in the section "Capital Loss Carryover", what I got looked like the following,

Capital loss carryover from 2023 $0

All capital losses used in 2024 $0

Remaining losses carried forward to 2025 $0

I do have a Net AMT long-term capital gain/loss of -$21,973.00 from 2023. Is the problem coming from the 2023 return or the 2024 return?

    Thank you very much!

Your AMT capital loss won't be used to offset your gains on your regular income tax calculation. If you don't have any regular capital loss carryover, you won't see loss offsetting your regular capital gain.

Are you reviewing Form 6251 (AMT) and not seeing an adjustment for your AMT capital loss carryover?
