Doing 2019 Taxes. TT says it looks like I took we took standard deduction for 2018 taxes. BUT, amount on Line 8 of 1040 is 25,300 rather than the 24,000 that it says would have been the standard deduction. Help window says if amount is different than 24,000 to choose itemized last year, but I cannot find a Schedule A either. Is it possible that 25,300 was a standard deduction?

You must have filed a Joint return and one spouse was 65 or older.  You got and extra 1,300 for Standard Deduction.

For 2018 the standard deduction amounts are:

Single 12,000 + 1,600 for 65 and over or blind

HOH 18,000 + 1,600 for 65 and over or blind

Joint 24,000+ 1,300 for each 65 and over or blind

Married filing Separate 12,000 + 1,300 for 65 and over or blind

were you or your spouse over 65 in 2018?  there is a larger standard deduction of $1300 for each one over 65
