In Arizona, if I itemize my federal, but it doesn't exceed the standard, will I still get the benefit of the itemization on Arizona taxes? In other words, I gave a large sum to church this year and want credit for it on state taxes.

Yes!  As with federal income tax returns, the state of Arizona offers various credits to taxpayers.   An individual may claim itemized deductions on an Arizona return even if taking a standard deduction on a federal return.   Enter all of your itemized deductions (charity donations) on your federal return and TurboTax will transfer it all to your state return, whether you itemize on your federal return or not.
