Note This ITIN is for my dependent spouse and was issued in 2017. Turbotax is not letting me move forward with this ITIN. A few other similar sites including HRBlock did allow me to continue. Is this a site error?

"Ignore the message and continue.  TurboTax is incorrectly flagging the middle two digits of the ITIN that are the same as an ITIN issued prior to 2013."

I have the same problem with TT incorrectly showing my wife's ITIN as expired.

It doesn't seem as though TT online filing system will allow me to file online as long as the ITIN field continues to wrongly show an expired ITIN.

TT appears to have either fixed or be in the process of fixing this problem for 2023 tax year online users.

Last week when I began working on my 2023 tax return, my NRA wife's valid ITIN (used every year for the past 8 years) was suddenly judged by TT as "invalid."

Now today, suddenly, the same ITIN number, with middle digits of 97 (valid if issued and used consistently after 2013) is now suddenly being accepted by the TT system without any error message.

The IRS's latest guidance on the status of ITIN numbers can be found here:

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw7.pdf

Expired ITINs. If your ITIN wasn’t included on at least one U.S.
federal tax return for the last 3 consecutive tax years, it will expire
on December 31 of the third consecutive tax year, and must be
renewed before being used again on a U.S. federal tax return.

ITINs with middle digits (the fourth and fifth positions) “70,”
“71,” “72,” “73,” “74,” “75,” “76,” “77,” “78,” “79,” “80,” “81,” “82,”
“83,” “84,” “85,” “86,” “87,” or “88” have expired. In addition, ITINs
with middle digits “90,” “91,” “92,” “94,” “95,” “96,” “97,” “98,” or
“99,” IF assigned before 2013, have expired"

So, in contrast, if you have one of those 9X series middle digit ITINs issued during or after 2013, and have continued using it regularly as required by the IRS, then it should remain valid. And the TT online system had an error that previously was wrongly listing those range ITINs as invalid.

Itin showing expired, won't allow me to claim my sister as a dependent. Talked to IRS and they said it was active. How can I fix it om turbo tax?
