Jury duty pay - I got a gift card - do I still have to report it?

Back in August-2023 I went to jury duty, I didn't get selected and quickly 3 hours later was sent home.

But they sent me a $10 debit card.

Do I still have to declare that? I didn't get any 1099-MISC or 1099-G forms.

Really confused, maybe there is a threshold? But nothing is free

Yessir, if they mailed out 1099s, I am sure that taxpayers would complain at the "waste" of taxpayer dollars.

So you are doing the right thing...

You do declare jury duty pay, although ten bucks shouldn't move the needle much.

Enter it at the bottom of the 'Wages & Income' section and just put 'Jury Pay' as a description.

Thanks so much for your reply, yes I see it and I entered it and it didnt really make a difference.

I guess I totally forgot since that was sometime in August, should federal or the state or the court should have sent me some form? I guess they don't for minor numbers such as these, and we just have to remember them?

    Thanks,

    Edmond
