I got an error message that my returns were rejected because the last number and SS# don't match IRS records received from SSA.  I have used Turbo Tax many years checked and verified info is correct.  Turbo Tax says I will need to print and mail to file. Others having this issue? Glitch? Should I be contact SS to see if there is an issue? Online SS info is correct.

Before you print to mail, I highly recommend that you get your actual social security card (and spouse's card if you are filing jointly) and triple check that it matches exactly what has been entered in the MY INFO section of TurboTax.

As I stated in your other thread, this is a matter of your name and SSN not matching the IRS database (or spouse if applicable) and usually occurs when your information is mistyped in TurboTax.

I figured out the issue. This year, after many years of using Turbo Tax, I decided to put my name and info first, then my husbands. I went back through the program and switched it back to husband first, then my info.  We submitted and both state and federal were accepted. I guess if you use married filing jointly, you need to keep the order of the information the same!

Do you have two last names? The IRS matches the last 4 digits of your social security number to the first 4 letters of your last name.

Regardless of the reason, if you are REJECTED with a SSN issue,

you have no choice but to print, confirm SSN, sign and mail it in.
