Last year on my taxes I owed state $100... I paid it and then they still took it out of my account AGAIN. I never got my money back.. its been impossible to get ahold of fbem all year. what are my opt

You have a couple of options.

 

  • You can try to contact the taxpayer advocate in your particular state.  This office may be able to look into your case and let you know the status of the extra payment.
  • Many states have a way to email them.  You can try to start the dialogue this way.
  • Some states allow you to log in check the status of your account balance.  This would assist you in determining if both payments are reflected in their system and how the state chose to apply the payments.  Click on this link to track your refund:  How to track my refund
  • You can try calling again.  Make sure you are using the number provided for individual tax return filing to ensure you are directing your inquiry to the correct department.
  • Finally, you can also try mailing in a correspondence requesting information.  Be aware this may take a lot longer but if you are unsuccessful in obtaining assistance any other way, this is an option.
