I thought that I read taxes were due in July. I now see they were due back in May. Is there a way to file an extension now or do I just get penalized?

You are too late to request an extension, If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing late. If you owe tax due--you are just late and will be subject to late penalties and interest which will not be calculated by TurboTax----it will be billed later by the IRS and/or your state.

Edited to add----The filing deadline for 2020 tax returns was May 17, 2021 or if you were a victim of the TX winter storm, June 15, 2021.
