Limit 5 returns to be e filed but two of them were rejected, so I wonder that the rejected returns still considered counted?

there are a limit of 5 federal tax returns to be e filed, I did 5 but there were two rejected, so I just only have 3 e filed successfully. I couldn't fix the problem because Turbo Tax said the pin used to sign the return wasn't matched, but this return was the first time e filed, it never have pin created. The second return asked for the PIN assigned by IRS but the taxpayer didn't received the IRS's letter. Therefore, I lost 2 returns that unable to be e filed. Anyone has the same problem?

The rejected returns can be e-filed if you can fix the problem that caused the rejection.

If you never fix them and just print and mail them to the IRS, I don’t actually know if it will count against you on the five e-file limit. That limit is imposed by the IRS, and they have their own methods of enforcing it which are not obvious to the end-user. For example, you can’t get five more e-files by installing your copy of TurboTax on a new computer, or even by buying a new copy of TurboTax with a different serial number.

I suppose you’ll just have to try and see what happens.
