Lost refund check and IRS cancelled refund. IRS Record of Account shows negative balance with message that it is not a payoff amount. What does it mean and how to request
Filed Tax ammendment in Oct 2019 and IRS accepted ammendment requested and issued cheque of XXXX amount.
Due to change of address, I lost the cheque and immediately requested IRS to cancel refund.
IRS cancelled refund and my IRS account showed amount balance with negative sign -XXXX with a message that this is not a payoff amount.
I submitted 2019 taxes and got refund but IRS has not issued cancelled refund yet.
My Qs:
1) What this message mean on my account 'This is not a payoff amount' under account balance.
2) How should I request for this refund from IRS? They do not respond to old tax enquiry by phone but accept 2019 tax related Qs only.
