Married filing separately on the same return.

Good afternoon,

Situation:

  • Filing married jointly on federal tax returns.
  • Filing non-resident MO state taxes - my wife works in MO.
  • Filing resident AR state taxes. - I work in AR and we live in AR.

Arkansas provides the option to file Married filing separately on the same return, even though we file married jointly on federal. Turbotax choose this option as default for us. And it will provide a significant benefit in our return.

If filing married filing separately on the same return;

Do we have to file two separate AR state tax returns? OR will this be on the one AR tax return?

Thank you,

Luuk

One state return. AR is one of the states that allows you to file separately for better benefits and on the same return for ease.
