Solved

MD form 502 line 17 is required but even after submitting this is not filled in. I called turbotax. They said it would be filled in once it was submitted but it’s not.

Side note: the fact that I must post to a public forum as there is no way to interact and have record of the interaction since the only other option is a phone call, is seriously pushing me towards another tax program next year.

Line 17 is for your standard or itemized deduction. One reason it may not populate would be if you didn't have any Maryland adjusted gross income, which can happen if you have non-taxable income such as social security or pension income. If the amount on line 18 (Net Income) is correct, then your return should be accurate as far as your tax calculations are concerned. If the return is not correct by virtue of the lack of an entry on line 17, it would be promptly rejected by the Comptroller's office.
