The 2 stimulus payments that have been issued are dependent upon your 2020 situation. So, if you claim your child on this year's return, you will qualify to receive a payment for that child even if Dad received the payment(s). If Dad received the payments but does not claim the child, he does not have to repay that money. Nothing has been finalized for any possible future Economic Impact Payments.
