I have reinstalled Turbotax,  and it works with another file,  so it isn't the Turbotax software, it is a corrupt file.

We need additional details to be able to assist you further.

When you state it works with another "file", do you mean it works with another filing or pdf imported?  Please note specifically what you are trying to do and someone will follow up with the next steps.

It works with another filing (taxpayer,  I do 2 taxpayers on my computer).   I reinstalled Turbotax to see if that would work,  but it didn't change anything.  So when I try to open the file it locks up with the oops message.

Thank you for these additional details!  It doesn't specify what version you are using, but if you are Windows, you might try to manually update your software to see if this helps.  To manually update your Turbo Tax software, see the Help Article here.

I am using Mac desktop Turbo Tax 2021 and  have the same problem.  This happened after my efiling was rejected.  I have since received emails and texts that the efiling was successful but I cannot get back into Turbo Tax.

Are you using the desktop version or online version? @cpelzer

I was able to efile my returns, but cannot get back into the return to print a copy.  I keep getting an error message that TurboTax has to shut down and to update.  It says it is updated , but won’t open.   I wanted to print a copy.

Yes.  This has happened to me. I did taxes for 2 different people with no problems and then on the third person, I got this Oh Dear message and couldn't get back in. I uninstalled, deleted all the files in the library and reinstalled. When I opened the 3rd tax return again, it did the same "oh dear" message and closed down. When this first happened in the third return, I had hit the back button about 5 times to go back a few windows to change something..then I got locked out. I believe the file became corrupt at that point. So I opened my first client and was able to get in, selected start a new tax return and voila..it works..I just unfortunately have to re-enter all the information again. Hope this helps someone.
