Minnesota Nontaxable Income- It says Nontaxable Income Items from your Federal Return it lists 3 what is that?

There are differences between the income the Federal government taxes and that which the individual states' tax. 

 

Most states start with your Federal Adjusted Gross Income and then adjust the income to come up with a state AGI. Nontaxable items are subtracted from the state return. Minnesota does not tax items such as state income tax refunds, Military pensions, and reservation income for American Indians. You can see more here.
