Dear

I am wondering in the case of "Moved in Dec. 2020, received relocation fee reimbursement from employer in Jan. 2021," should the income of reimbursement be filed for 2020 on my side? I can't find this item in W2 but in turbotax, it is asking like "did you move in 2020?" I am wondering if the answer depends on "real move date" or "when reimbursement was received." Thank you very much!

Best,

if you were reimbursed in 2021, it's 2021 income and should appear on your W-2 at the end of the year.

did it already show up on a 2021 paystub?

Thank you for answering! Yes, it appeared in my paystub in 2021 already. So, for that question, I should answer "No" for 2020, right?

    "did you move in 2020?"

Where is it asking you this? Is it in the My Info/Personal Info section? In this case, TurboTax is trying to find out what states you were a resident in.

Was this in the Deductions & Credits section? Then TurboTax is just asking in case you are eligible for any deductions related to your move. However, only active duty military personnel moving to a new station on orders are eligible to make any deductions for moving, so if this is not you, just answer "No".
