Question

My 1099-div amounts individually entered are about doubled on the summary. I also imported tax info from my brokerage account. Are amounts duplicated?

Yes, it sounds like you have some duplication. If you import your 1099-B form a broker, sometimes the 1099-DIV and 1099-INT will import as well.

You can review your dividends:

  1. Select Federal from the left side menu,
  2. Scroll down and find Dividends on the Income & Expenses Summary.
  3. Click Edit/ Add to the right.
  4. Check the list for duplications.
  5. You can delete entries by clicking on the little trash can on the right side of the entry.

Thanx for the reply. Unfortunately when using “import” from a brokerage account, the items don’t show up on the tax entry items, only the total. At least in this case. The items I entered total $600+ but my total is $31000. My brokerage account shows about $30000 in dividends. So I am assuming that amount came from the “import”.

Have you compared the amounts imported vs the amounts shown on your hard copy of Form 1099-DIV to insure the imported amounts are correct?
