My baby does not have a social security number yet can I still claim him on my tax return

We live in a city that has no office so it’s all my mail. I want to claim him for additional tax breaks but should I wait for his social security number or mail it in.

You should wait for the social security number before you file a tax return.

Your tax return will be processed much more quickly if it is e-filed than mailed to the IRS. It can take eight weeks or more to process a mailed-in paper return.
