Question

My crypto CSV failed validation and I don't know who to input the information myself. I've tried re-uploading on converting different files but it still won't work.

Whenever I enter my CSV file, Turbotax will then scan the file for viruses. It will scan the file for a few seconds before telling me that the "Validation failed" at which point the only option is to input it manually. Unfortuenilty, I do not know how to input the information myself and now I'm stuck. My file is from Robinhood which is a partner of Turbotax so compatibility should not be an issue. I am unsure what else it could be.

You may want to clear your cookies and cache and try the import again.

Each browser has a slightly different method for deleting cookies. Choose the browser you're using:

A full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax, so sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files).

Here are the official instructions for the most popular browsers:

Apple's official support site doesn't appear to contain instructions for clearing the cache in Safari. Your best bet is to search the Internet for clear Safari cache or similar search terms.

If this doesn't work, please reply back, and we will walk you through manual entry.

add a heading to your file to label the columns to identify the information that is required on Form 8949.

Recommended to rearrange the columns into the same order of columns on Form 8949.

Include your name and SSN,

Then use the TurboTax summary option to put your results onto a summary Form 8949.

You will have to mail in the details shown on your newly formated csv file within three business days of the IRS accepting your e-Filed tax return.
