My daughter filed a tax return for 2017 because he made a small amount of money. Now it rejects my return because I claimed her as a dependent. What do I do?

I need to claim her because I need the higher education credit.

Yes, if your daughter filed her own return and did not indicate that she 'was a dependent on someone else's return', then your return will reject for Efile.

You can still claim her as your dependent and claim an education credit, but you will have to mail in your return.

After she receives her refund, she will need to Amend her return.
