can I place her income on my taxes or does she need a separate tax return?

You do not add your daughter's income on your tax return, even if you claim her as a dependent.

If she has wages over $6,300 in 2016 (or over $400 on a from 1099-MISC), she'll need to file her own tax return. Even if she earned less, she can file a tax return to obtain a refund of taxes withheld, She'll need to indicate on her return that she is claimed as a dependent by someone else (in the Personal Info section of TurboTax).
