My daughter is40 years old and won't work. can i claim her as a dependent?

It depends. Once your child is over 24 years old you cannot claim them as a qualifying dependent child (the only exception is if they are permanently and totally disabled) but you may be able to claim her as a qualifying relative.  If your daughter earned less than $4,400 in 2022, and you provided more than half of her support, you may claim her as a dependent.
