Question

My daughter worked part-time as a waitress last year, but I supported her as a dependent. Can I still claim her?

If I claim her as a dependent, then how does she do her own taxes?

Please see this IRS tool to determine whether you can claim your daughter as a dependent:   https://www.irs.gov/uac/who-can-i-claim-as-a-dependent

If you claim her, she will still be able to file her own tax returns.  When she does, it is crucial that she indicates that she can be claimed by someone else and that that person (you) is claiming her.  Please see screenshot below.
