My ex and I divorced in 2020 and our stimulus payment went to him. He then paid me my half. How do I list the payment ? The full amount we both received or only my half?

Because you are filing separate returns this year, you will each want to report your share (one half) of the stimulus on your tax return.

    What if he didn't pay exactly half?

     

    Would I still report half? Or would I report the exact amount I was given?

    If as a couple you got $2400 in total then your portion of $1200  needs to be reported on the 2020 return even if he did not give you the entire $1200.  Failure to report your portion on the return will delay your return in processing.
