My ex will not give me her social security number. We were only married for a month and a few days last year, do i need it?

@rmikemeta - I assume you were still legally married on Dec 31. Then you have to file Married - Filing Separate. You can enter a 'dummy' social security number (111-00-1111) into Turbo Tax. You must paper file Obtaining her social security number is not necessary.

if you were legally unmarried on Dec 31, then you file with the filinmg status of Single. You can efile and using a dummy number is not necessary.

in neither case will you be required to report any of her income. That is her responsibility.
