Other Income is generally taxable income that is often considered uncommon. Other income is reported on Line 8 of Schedule 1 and Form 1040. It includes earnings from prizes, awards, and gambling winnings. Things such as bartering or exchanging goods and services without using money can also be considered other income.

If your 1099-DIV showed a capital gain, it may be reflected as other income.

You could also look at your Schedule 1, Item 8, which lists items considered to be other income. If you are using a TurboTax desktop product, you can view your Schedule 1 as follows:

    1. Click "Forms" in the upper right of your TurboTax screen to switch to "Forms Mode"
    2. In your left panel scroll down to Schedule 1
    3. Schedule 1 will appear in your left panel
    4. Review the items in Line 8

If you are using TurboTax Online you can try previewing your return to see your Schedule 1.

    1. Go to "Tax Tools" in your left panel,
    2. Select "Tools" and then
    3. Select "View Tax Summary" and
    4. Select "Preview Form 1040"

You can get to the TurboTax screens for other income to review your entries as follows:

    1. Click on the search icon in the upper right of your TurboTax screen
    2. Type "other reportable income" in your search bar
    3. Click on the link "Jump to other reportable income"

Your screen will look something like this:
