Payments made after the year of death, should not be report ed on Form W-2.  The payment should not have had social security and Medicare taxes withheld, as wages paid in the year(s) following an employee’s death are not subject to FIT, FICA or FUTA taxes.  Instead of being reported on Form W-2, the payment should have been made to you or his estate and reported  on Form 1099-MISC in box 3.

To report it correctly, you will need to get the employer to void the W-2, and issue you a 1099-MISC.  On the other hand, since your husband won't be filing a tax return, if you do nothing with the W-2, you probably won't hear anything about it.
