Solved

My husband owns our home (in his name), when filing married jointly, should I also claim the home for tax breaks or will he only claim it when he files married jointly?

Yes. Since you are filing using the married filing joint filing status, you will both enter your income and deductions on the same tax return. You only file two tax returns, if you file using the filing status married filing separately.
