It is my home that I own. My mother receives food stamps and state insurance benefits for my sister who is 4 years old. I don't plan to claim them next year only this year. Can this cause problems. I have used them as dependents for my pay checks

Did your mom have more than $4050 of income?  If so, you can NOT claim her as a dependent.  If her income is less than that, you CAN claim her *IF* you paid for over 50% of her support.

If your mom IS your dependent, yes, you can claim your sister.  HOWEVER, it MIGHT cause problems with the benefits that your mother receives for your sister.  You would need to contact those State departments to ask them.

If your mom is NOT your dependent, then your mom gets 'first pick' at claiming your sister as a dependent.  If she does not claim her, then yes, you can claim your sister.  However, see the warning I gave in the previous paragraph.
