Question

My mother died in 2018, we have a small estate account for $200. this January 2020 I received a 1099c for credit card debt how do I file this?

To enter your 1099-C into TurboTax follow these steps:

  1. While you are in your Tax Home,
  2. Select Search from the top right of your screen
  3. Enter 1099-C,
  4. Select Jump to 1099-C,
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to fill out this section.

Typically small inheritances are not taxable, for more information see IRS Publication 559.
