My new employer did not report any social security wages, deduct any social security tax medicare wages and medicare tax. Is that correct? W2 has it blank.

My new employer did not report any social security wages, deduct any social security tax medicare wages and medicare tax. Is that correct? W2 has it blank. Do I need to now pay it in tax returns?

Please clarify your question.

 

  • Did you get a W-2, or was it a 1099-NEC or 1099 MISC?
  • Did you ask your employer for an explanation?

If you did get a 1099 form you will have to pay the Social Security and Medicare taxes.

I got 2 W2's. 1 for my old employer and 1 for new employer. I just noticed it yesterday while I was trying to file my tax. Planning to reach out tomorrow but wanted to check if it is normal. I had switched employers last year. So from Jan to July 2024 I have Social security tax deducted from my wages with old employer. My new employers W2 has it blank in Social security wages and taxes. I check the paystubs for my new employer as well but they have not deducted any social security tax, not sure why.

same with Medicare. Old employer had it deducted but my new employer did not. do I need to pay it now? If yes, how do I pay it?
