Solved

My Ohio local school district tax return was rejected due to "OH-PIT-009". The "Fix my return" button does nothing to help. Has anyone else had this happen?

It seems the "Preparer" field was not filled.

TurboTax is aware. That glitch is actually a user error. You don't have to file that form if you don't owe any money. You wont get a refund from it, so its best to delete it and e-file your OH state tax form alone.

Ohip Dept. of Taxation (ODT) Published this today;

School District Income Tax Update

ODT has redesigned the SD 100, School District Income Tax Return. Beginning in tax year 2023, all school district tax liabilities, payments, and withholding are reported on one return. In January 2024, ODT updated lines 33 through 36 of the SD 100 return and instructions. The updated SD 100 return and instructions are available at tax.ohio.gov/forms.

Mine is doing the same thing. I tried to connect to someone via phone, and they were basically no help at all. My SD100 form has self-prepared on it, so I'm really not sure what is happening.

There's a glitch. You may need to wait for an update from TT.  There is a major redesign of the SD interview from last year.

Do you know when the update will be and whether this will cause a delay with our federal return if it has already been accepted?

On my 2023 return for State of Ohio "Fix my rejected return" icon button does nothing for me either. Same rejection code "OH-PIT-009" with no resolution in "Help" search. Additionally, "PreparerName" error listed as second error information.

Did you see Hal_Al's response above:

Q. Do you know when the update will be?

A. No.  They only recently started looking into it.

Q. Will this cause a delay with our federal return if it has already been accepted?

A.  No.  Nothing on the local SD or state return affects the federal processing.  The SD return is usually e-filed with the OH state return, so there may be a delay there.

Mine is doing the same thing. Rejection on my Ohio school district tax return due to code OH-PIT-009 and the “Fix my return” button does nothing. Says there is no preparer listed but it very clearly is listed as self-prepared. When I called TurboTax they said they were not aware of the problem and couldn’t escalate until multiple users called and reported the same problem. Then they closed my ticket without finding a solution! Very frustrating.

My SD100 was also rejected but there is no rejection code in my email! When I click the Fix My Return button, I'm redirected to my tax home page where my Ohio return is listed as pending. So confused because the link from the email shows my Ohio return is rejected. Waiting for a phone call from TT now.

Try closing TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, and reopen TurboTax.  Make sure you have ran all updates.

UPDATE: Per a suggestion on the Community... I had the same issue as stated in the Subject Title... as suggested, I did search on my PC Windows on how to Clear Cache (temporary files), initiated that task, and restarted the PC. I then went to the TurboTax login screen and proceeded to click through the "Fix my problem" and the issue was resolved. I was able to re-transmit the "School SD-100" form alone. I will keep you updated as it moves through the State of Ohio system. 🙂

Hello all. Mine is doing the same thing. I was on chat for an hr lastnight for this same issue. The live person I was speaking could not give an answer then found this forum. She sent me the email link to here and said to keep checking daily until resolved. So I'm checking in and wanted to make it aware that the more complaints we have the sooner they will get the system glitch figured out. I am suspecting that the majority of Ohio will be having this problem. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Mine went through and was accepted...though it had previously been accepted and was rejected. So keep trying. I would guess it's a glitch, as a user above mentioned, and it will sort itself out.

I have been dealing with this since I got my first email on Tuesday. It is so frustrating. I wish I could just fix the issue and refile but nothing happens and I have been on the phone with two different people.

Got the same problem OH-PIT-009... Turbo tax needs to fix this so we can get our taxes done!  This year's software has had the MOST problems I have ever run into, that along with VERY long printing times

I have done this and it has not worked.

When will this problem be fixed?  I do live in a district that has a 1% income tax so I do need to file.  I would prefer to e-file this tax especially since I already paid to e-file my state taxes.

Just happened to me too. "Missing" info seems to be there, so no idea how to proceed. File using a paper form?

You should go back through your federal return and review the state withholding information for all the forms you entered.  Sometimes an error of not entering the state abbreviation, entering the state ID incorrectly, or not entering the state distribution amount can cause this rejection.

To go back through your forms:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Select Search, enter the form you want to enter, and select Jump to.
    • Or go to Wages & Income and select Start next to the Form you want to review

If necessary, make the appropriate change and re-submit this return electronically. However, if the reject continues, you may want to file a paper return.

TT had told me to enter zero if state distribution was blank. Wrong! Your earlier suggestion to enter the amount from box 1 seems to have corrected my problem. I hesitated filing at first because I did not know how that worked - I was afraid it would mean an amended filing for fed and state forms too! But I got brave and walked through the filing process to find TT is smart and knew only to submit the Ohio School tax form. Did that and am waiting to hear it is accepted. Thanks!
