Question

My previously saved in process tax file was deleted off my computed during 4/1/2021 update process?

I've been working for a month and a half (easily 40 hours worth of work) on my taxes.  Saving it multiple times at the end of the session.  I accepted the 'Lets update Turbo Tax file' at the beginning of my 4/1/2021 session and now my saved file is no longer on my computer.  I spoke with customer support for over 80 mins.  We searched my computer (*.Tax2020, *.Tax*, Taxfile, etc.) but the previously saved file is gone.  Customer Support stated that the latest update would not delete the file but that is the only difference (and no other issues with computer or other files).  I'm concerned about reinvesting time to reenter the 40 hours worth of data (TurboTax's solution) only to possibly have it deleted again with the next update they push.  Has anyone had this issue before?  Any ideas on how to move forward or prevent future deletions?  Thanks

In the Documents directory and in the TurboTax folder there is not a file with a Name 2020 (Your Last Name Your First Initial) Form 1040 Individual Tax Return.tax2020 with a Type TurboTax 2020 Document?

Is there a file with a tilde (~) in front of the file name in the TurboTax folder?

Have you looked in the Recycle Bin folder?

Thank you for the information.  unfortunately, there is not a file with my Name 2020 or a Tubo Tax 2020 document in my documents directory.  I do not see a recycle bin on this version on Windows.  I searched 'recycle' in the file directory but did not see a Recycle Bin.

@rgmazur  Are you using Windows 10?  If so, here's how you get to the Recycle Bin: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-or-hide-the-recycle-bin-0d4d40aa-be23-91ec-96ab-338818d5e5fb
