To correct the EIN, you need to go back to the section where you entered your form and Edit the form.  Once you have corrected the EIN you can transmit your return to the IRS again. See the TurboTax FAQ below for more instructions.

Rejected due to incorrect fin number

First determine which number is incorrect.  If you are not sure, check each social security number (SSN) as well as any employer identification number (EIN or FIN as you indicate) that was entered for taxpayer and dependents, as well as W-2 forms. Follow the steps below to fix the number.

The IRS matches the first four letters of the last name or the employer name with the SSN/EIN so be sure the spelling is correct as well.

You should see the Fix my return button when you log in.

If you don't see Fix my return, click Tax Home to the left, scroll down to Your tax returns & documents and click Add a state there to get back inside the return to make needed changes.

NOTE: You can re-submit your e-filed return as many times as necessary until the filing deadline in October.

However, we recommend that after three unsuccessful attempts (with the same e-file error), you print, sign, and mail your return. Some e-file issues cannot be resolved except by the IRS.
