Do you need to file her personal 1040 return or the 1041 Estate/Trust Return?  You can use any version, Online or Desktop, to do her personal return.

If you need to do the Estate 1041 return, You need the Turbo Tax Business Desktop program.  It  is a separate program from Home & Business.  It is not available to do online or on a Mac.  And it will not do your personal 1040 return.  You can have both Turbo Tax Business and a personal version (like Home & Business) installed at the same time.

You can buy the Window's version here…..

My sister did not have any income after death so 1041 is not needed. She also donated her house and property to a land trust. Her gross income income is only $9836 since her social security is tax free.I looked at her last years return and she used 1040-SR.

Since there is no estate return (Form 1041), you will not have any use for the federal employer identification number (EIN).

If she has no federal tax withholding and if she was single, she may be below the filing requirement. See the filing requirements below,

If she does have federal (or state) withholding then you will want to file her return for a refund.  You would include Form 1310 with the return if there is a refund.

Filing Requirements:

IF your filing status is.............     THEN file a return if your gross income was at least.

Single under 65 $13,850, 65 or older $15,700

Head of Household under 65 $20,800, 65 or older $22,650

Married Filing Jointly under 65 (both spouses) $27,700, 65 or older (one spouse) $29,200 65 or older (both spouses) $30,700

Married Filing Separately any age  $5

Qualifying Surviving Spouse under 65 $27,700, 65 or older $29,200

If you were born before January 2, 1959, you're considered to be 65 or older at the end of 2023.

I am sending sympathies to your and your family.  Please update here if you have additional questions or details.

Is the EIN for your sister's estate?    You will need TurboTax Business to file an estate return (Form 1041), but you can certainly use TurboTax.   I am sorry for your loss.
