Question

My son filled 2023 tax return as independent (it was a mistake). Can I claim him as dependent this year?

My son 20 yrs old is a full-time undergrad student. He had filled his taxes last year as he had 4K income while doing part time work.

This year there is no significant income to report. Can I include him in my tax filling this year as dependent? I do support him for his tuition and other expenses including health insurance.

Each tax year is filed separately.

You can claim your 20-year old student son as a dependent in 2024.
