Question

My son is a CA resident but went to school in DC last year. He worked there all year. Should he file a non resident tax with DC? Does he still need to file taxes with CA?

If he has a filing requirement for CA he has to file there since it is his tax home. cA will give him credit for any tax paid to DC

If he has a filing requirement he would file as a nonresident of DC and a resident of CA.
