My son is in the process of getting his name fixed on his birth certificate, I don’t know if it’s officially changed on vitals statistics, will this effect my tax return?

Are you claiming him as a dependent on your tax return? If not, there is no affect.

If you are claiming him as a dependent then you need to make sure that you enter his name as it appears on his most current Social Security card.
