My spouse passed away in 2023 and I needed to know how I sign for him

Sorry for your loss.  You should be filing the 2023 tax return as Married Filing Jointly.  When you entered his personal information in the My Info section of the program there was a screen that asked if they had passed away.  You should have selected that they passed away and their date of passing in 2023.

 

If you are e-filing your 2023 tax return there are no written signatures on the tax return.  The 2022 AGI that you enter is your electronic signature.
