My state tax return calculation does not make sense. Shouldn't state tax total minus what is paid should give how much I owe or state owes me? It does not in INTUIT rprt.

There is >1k difference between what has been calculated as over-payment versus what state owes me. Where is this difference coming from?

We in the Community cannot see your private tax data, so if you want us to help, you need to do the following:

1. tell us what state?

2. what state form are you using (resident, part-year, nonresident) - the form title will tell us.

3. tell us state tax total and the line number you found it on.

4. tell us tax paid and what line you found it on.
