Make sure that only one of the signature options for Illinois in the signature options is complete from these choices, leave all of the others blank:

  • 2018 AGI from line 1 of your 2018 Form IL-1040 (not your federal AGI from your IRS 1040 form); or
  • 8-digit Illinois PIN, which you might be able to look up at the Illinois Department of Revenue's website; or
  • Illinois driver's license number or State ID (info from other states won't work; must be from Illinois).

If you have only one of these options selected and you are certain that it is correct, you can try another option.  If you are still getting a reject error, you will need to go back to the option where you can change your filing method to file by mail and print the return.

Occasionally, the mismatch comes from an error in the state database that we are not able to correct, and filing by mail is the only solution.  However, most of the time, trying a different signature solution will find a match and allow you to e-file the return.
