My State Taxes won’t let e file

Which state?     Without knowing the specific state, here are a couple of possibilities for that:

Did you already efile the Federal return separately?  If so, you cannot efile a state return by itself until the Federal return has been accepted.

Or do you have any state forms that are not yet ready for efiling?   When you go through the REVIEW section, does it say anything about needing to wait on any forms?    You can check your state forms availability dates with this tool:

It's also possible in early filing season a small number of states may not have opened processing yet.
