Question

My tax return is stating my interest income is over $1500, but it’s $1496.90. It’s telling me I have to pay $79 to file because my interest income is over $1500.

To resolve the issue with TurboTax stating your interest income is over $1,500 when it’s actually $1496.90, and to prevent an unnecessary upgrade, follow these steps to delete and re-enter your 1099-INT and 1099-B forms:

Steps to Verify and Re-enter 1099-INT

Search and Jump to 1099-INT:

  • Sign in to TurboTax and open your return.
  • Click on the Search box at the top and type “1099-INT.”
  • Select the Jump to 1099-INT link that appears
  • Verify that the total interest income entered is $1496.90.

Delete Schedule B: (this is the schedule causing the upgrade)

Access Tax Tools:

  • Click on Tax Tools in the left column, then select Tools.
  • In the pop-up window, choose Delete a form.
  • Scroll down the list to locate Schedule B.
  • Select Delete next to Schedule B and confirm the deletio
