My tax return is telling me my one dependent SS is duplicated. Verified that this is the correct SS number. Please assist.

Any chance that dependent is a teenager or student who filed a return and did not say they can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return?

When you have duplicate SSN issues the only way you can file the return is to print sign and mail it if you are going to claim the dependent. Then the IRS will sort it out.

if you have a child who made a mistake on his return, he can amend it, but you cannot wait around for that.
