To see how you can obtain one, click here: How to get one?

To follow steps to enter the IP PIN in the program, click here: IP PIN

An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is a 6-digit number that the IRS gives taxpayers who were victims of tax-related identity theft.  The IP PIN validates a Social Security number's true owner and prevents future tax fraud. Most taxpayers don't need one.  For more information, click here: What is IP PIN

If remains being rejected, you can either print and paper file or to file an extension.  To file an extension, here are the steps:

  • Sign back into your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box , type in extension and Enter
  • Select Jump to extension
  • Follow prompts

Generally, the due date for this tax season is May 17.  If you request and are granted an extension, you typically have until October 15 to file you tax return.  For  more information about extension, click here: Extension

@michelle35is  after May 17th , TurboTax cannot process / transmit extension requests to the IRS.  You have two options:

(a) find your lost PIN and then e-file as soon as possible

(b) File by mail  ( print, sign, date ) with a note explaining that you have lost the PIN - and then (IRS) should be able to issue a new PIN

Does that help ?
