After it got rejected I looked again and my mother in law said to should of filled single. So I went back to change my status to single and it got rejected again. And I took my husband information off and it said it was rejected

If you were married in October, Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately would be correct but the reason for the rejection needs to be addressed before resubmitting to avoid another rejection.  What rejection code or message did you receive?  This will help us to assist you in correcting the issue so that you can try again.

Often you can follow the prompts in TurboTax by clicking on "Fix this error" in the program, also, but if you will share the rejection message or code, we will be happy to help.

Let's take a look at your return
Description of error:
Primary SSN in the Return must not be equal to the Spouse SSN on another tax return for which filing status is Married Filing Jointly or [filing status is Head of Household and the Spouse exemption is claimed].
What needs to be done:
This return was rejected by the IRS because the Primary taxpayer's Social Security Number (SSN) has already been entered on another return that has been filed and accepted by the IRS. Verify that the taxpayer's SSN has been entered correctly. If no errors have been made in the entry of the taxpayer's SSN, it may be necessary to contact the IRS for further guidance. If this problem cannot be resolved, this return will have to be filed by mail.

It appears that your spouse filed a return Married Filing Jointly, and as such you cannot file your return separately unless that return is first amended.

You can either amend the joint return to include your income or amend the joint return to a separate return so that you can file your separate return.

IMPORTANT:   You can only amend a jointly filed return to the MFS status prior to the due date for the return, April 15, 2020.  After April 15, you will not be able to change the filing status in most cases.
