Question

My taxes have been filed and accepted but IRS has denied my payment. The letter indicates it is because account is unable to be found. How do I fix?

Can you give us more information about what the letter says? Is there a letter number in the top right hand corner?

Letter indicates ‘we couldn’t process your Electronic Funds Withdrawal payment for reason cited.  Reason….  No account/unable to locate account.  I called IRS and they said I have to work with my software filer to fix. TurboTax help says I can’t change account info once my taxes show as accepted in the TurboTax system and they do.

Then you can pay the IRS directly at

They couldn't find your bank account?  If the IRS couldn't deposit your refund (or pull your tax payment)  they will mail a check to the address on your return.  Double check the routing number and account number with your bank.  Some banks use a different routing numbers for deposits and payments.  Especially Bank of America.

Thank you.  I just can’t seem to fix it. IRS says they can resolve it on their end because the account # I gave them over the phone doesn’t match what they show in their system so I have to work with my filling vendor (TurboTax). In TurboTax I can’t figure out how to see what I entered and they say I can’t change it once the IRS has accepted them. Strangely, two other state returns (one payment and one deposit) both worked. ???
