Hi friends, My Turbotax 2019 says I have $0 refund in the tax summary (I was an international student and no one claimed tax for me). Could I still mail the 2019 tax return and get some refund cuz my friend who is in the same situation with I am did get a refund? Thank you so much!!!

How did your friend have $1027 of tax withhildings if he only earned $1290. that is not reasonable.

did your friend get a tax credit for being a college student? that is unusual, but possible but there isn't a lot of detail provided.

for you and your friend:

1) age on 12.31.19?

2) citizenship?

3) have a social security card that is unrestricted for working issued no later than July 15, 2020?

4) either parent alive?

5) filing status? appears to be single for each of you.
6) you are providing less than 50% of your own financial support, which would include the cost of college?

I really would need the answers to these questions to assess why you friend has a $1027 payment and what that payment represents (my bet is it is a tax credit).
