If your Form W-2 is incorrect, then you have two options:

1. Contact your employer and ask for a corrected Form W-2. Your W-2 needs to be correct in order to properly get credit for taxes withheld on your behalf.

2. If you are unable to obtain a corrected W-2 from your employer, then you can still file your return using a Substitute W-2 (Form 4852). You will have to file by mail since Form 4852 cannot be e-filed.

The following post gives detailed instructions on how to proceed when facing this problem  What if it's February but I still don't have my W-2? (same as if it is incorrect)

Can I use my last check stub?

Are you sure the employer didn't issue two W2's with the proper amount of federal tax withheld on one of the copies? If so, enter both on one screen.

If not, although it would seem logical to use your last paystub, it wouldn't work.

The IRS matches their copy to what you enter on the tax return.

Since their copy shows no tax withheld, they won't go along with what you enter. This is why ToddL99 suggested using Form 4852. That form lets the IRS know that you are disputing what was reported on your W2.

Or ask your employer for a corrected W2.
